Review: Hardwired....To Self Destruct

I've been a fan of Metallica since I was 13 years old. I've listened to every Album they have ever put out. I watched as they replaced one bassist due to tragedy, and other because they had a falling out. I've watched as they have grown from a trash metal band from The Bay, into rock veterans that are in the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame.

The band on this album is a mature band that has it's scars from the decades on tour. However this is a band that has found it's second wind, it's found a new energy, and I have to think that it's because they're clean and sober. The Clarity of the album is unmistakeable.

This will be an album that will leave you breathing hard in a post orgasmic bliss. I've never heard them as good as they are on this album. There is no longer any doubt that they are in fact the band of legend, and myth. A band that will take you, on a journey that will leave you wondering what the fuck just happened, as you take deep breaths in between songs.

Starting with the Title Song Hardwired...To Self Destruct, and going into their tribute to Lemmy, to the final song on the album there were times that Robert Trujillo was channeling Cliff Burton. Because as I listened to it, I couldn't tell that it wasn't him, and I had to wonder if the band had kept some tracks with Cliff playing on it. Because Robert Trujillo is in top form here, as is Jame Hetfield. I've never heard him sound as fantastic as he does here. He is at his best on this album, his voice has reached maturity and I can't think it would get any better than it is right now.

Kirk Hammett and Lars are also at their best on this Release. This is what 35 years of tours and albums should sound like, it's as if the band has found the fountain of youth. They are playing the best they have ever played before and they have with this album crafted what I believe to be the perfect album. I've always said that they only perfect album was Anthrax's Sound Of White Noise. However there are now two perfect Albums and Hardwired...To Self Destruct is one of the two best albums ever made, in my opinion.
